Head of Homologation
We are looking for an expert in Vehicle-Homologation to take ownership of all homologation activities across the company, ensuring our autonomous vehicles meet global regulatory standards. You will be working in a start-up environment which wants to change mobility and services for the better. In this leadership role, you will shape the company’s homologation strategy, liaise with governments, authorities, and OEMs, and represent Verne in working groups to influence and define future legislation. By collaborating closely with Verne’s Public Policy team, you’ll ensure the business is prepared to operate seamlessly in its intended markets, aligning our innovative solutions with compliance requirements

What will you do?
As the Head of Homologation, you will be based in our Croatian office but may be required to travel occasionally within Europe to engage with Type Approval Authorities and Technical Services. Travel will focus on negotiating testing requirements, supporting homologation activities, and representing the company in regulatory discussions.
This position requires flexibility and a collaborative approach, working with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, and your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing all homologation activities across the company, aligning them with business objectives.
- Interpreting and cascading homologation requirements to engineering teams and suppliers.
- Developing and overseeing homologation budgets and time plans to support timely project delivery.
- Advising senior leadership on market entry strategies for Europe and the Middle East.
- Attending industry trade body meetings nationally and internationally to monitor and influence evolving legislation, especially for autonomous vehicles.
- Maintaining the company’s requirements management tool with updated homologation requirements.
- Monitoring upcoming regulations affecting all vehicle elements, ensuring proactive compliance.
- Representing the company in regulatory and trade body working groups, advocating for favourable legislative outcomes.
- Simplifying and communicating complex homologation requirements to diverse stakeholders, including those without prior automotive experience.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with regulatory authorities, technical services, and industry partners.
What do you need to succeed?
- A university degree in a science or engineering discipline, or significant equivalent experience in a similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of international regulations and proven experience applying them within an OEM, Technical Service, or Type Approval Authority environment.
- Familiarity with multi-stage build type approval processes.
- Understanding of the UN hierarchy of working and regulatory groups under WP.29.
- Experience participating in trade body working groups at national or international levels is desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to distil complex regulatory requirements for non-specialist audiences.
- Leadership experience with a proactive approach to managing regulatory challenges and opportunities.
